Evaluating Side Hustles
In the last lesson, we explored what makes a side hustle ADHD-friendly — things like low startup friction, built-in dopamine, and flexibility. Now, we’re putting that into action by scoring common side hustles based on how ADHD-friendly they actually are.
We’re using three core criteria, each scored from 1 to 5:
Easy to Start
How quickly and easily can you get going?
| Score | Meaning |
|---|---|
| 5 | Practically instant. You could start today with little to no setup. |
| 4 | Just a few steps to launch. A small push and you’re rolling. |
| 3 | Moderate setup. A few tasks or tools to sort out first. |
| 2 | Takes significant planning, learning, or resources to start. |
| 1 | Overwhelming to begin. Lots of barriers or unclear path. |
Fun / Rewarding
How enjoyable, stimulating, or meaningful does it feel?
| Score | Meaning |
|---|---|
| 5 | Super fun and energizing. It’s something you genuinely look forward to. |
| 4 | Usually enjoyable. Feels good to complete or talk about. |
| 3 | Neutral. Some good parts, some meh. |
| 2 | Feels like a chore most of the time. |
| 1 | Boring or draining. You dread it. |
Flexible / Forgiving
Can it work with your energy, focus, and need for breaks?
| Score | Meaning |
|---|---|
| 5 | Totally flexible. You set the pace and can stop/start anytime. |
| 4 | Pretty forgiving. Minor changes or delays don’t cause issues. |
| 3 | Needs consistency, but has some wiggle room. |
| 2 | Rigid schedule or demands that require constant effort. |
| 1 | Unforgiving. Missing a beat can derail the whole thing. |
